The Montclair Hockey Club had one of our most successful midget seasons in recent memory with 4 total teams participating in the NJYHL Playoffs.

18AA: The 2005 birth year picked up where they left off last season as one of the top teams in the league. After advancing to USA Hockey Nationals at 16AA, the team went 16-2-0 in regular season play, which landed them 1st place in the 18AA North Division and the 2nd seed in the NJYHL Playoff. At the Red Bank Armory, the team won their semi-final game 3-2 over a strong New Jersey Titans team and went on to beat the top seeded Red Bank Generals 4-3 in 3OT! This group has advanced to the AAHA District Tournament, which will be held March 10-12 at the Ice House in Hackensack and includes a 3 game series against the AAHA District Qualifier Champion.

18A: Dave Solomon and 18A came into the NJYHL Playoffs as the 1st seed in the North and #1 overall after a 17-1-0 regular season. The boys went 3-0 in round robin play, beating North Jersey Avalanche 4-2, Atlantic City Sharks 4-2 and Woodbridge Wolfpack 5-2, which would earn the squad the top seed in the finals. A few unfortunate bounces late would lead to the boys falling 4-3 in OT to the Woodbridge Wolfpack, but still earned the team a trip to the AAHA District Tournament at IceWorks in Aston, PA March 10-12.

16AA National: 16AA National made waves this season as a full 2007 birth year team playing against predominantly 2006 birth year teams. The group, led by Tobias Schraven, impressively won or split every 2-game series with the other 10 opponents in the division, leading to a 15-3-2 record and 3rd place regular season finish. The boys went on to host the Red Bank Generals in the NJYHL Play-In. There they would have the game tied 1-1 early in the 3rd period, before falling 5-1 to the 2nd year heavy Generals team. The future looks bright for the 2007 moving forward!

16A National Blue: As a majorly first year 16U team, 16A Blue had an excellent season that saw them towards the top of the standings all season long.  After finishing the regular season with a 14-3-1 record, the team went on to host cross-town rival, Jersey Wolves, in the NJYHL Play-In game. The game proved to be a low scoring affair and saw the boys fall 2-1 to the Wolves. Great support on a Sunday night from several other Squirt, Peewee, Bantam and Midget players that came out to watch. The success from this season should continue for several more seasons at the Midget level with these players!
