Montclair Hockey Club families and prospective families,
First we want to thank the 330+ Travel players who have registered with us so far for the upcoming season! We take this as an indicator of your confidence in the Blues to successfully and safely navigate the challenges ahead for our teams and players.
Currently all New Jersey ice arenas are closed under State directive. We are aware that some rinks have chosen to operate in violation of the directive. Please exercise caution and common sense and do not put your family at any unnecessary risk.
We understand that ice arenas are currently classified in the 4th phase of re-opening by the State. We expect that when they do re-open they may be subject to some restrictions on operations and initial phases may not be conducive to typical hockey activities. We are in constant contact with our partners at Montclair State University Ice Arena as we plan for re-opening as soon as the State allows.
We are also engaged in regular conversations and meetings with our leagues, all of whom are in the process of drafting multiple scenarios for planning and scheduling for the upcoming season. We are all doing our utmost to be prepared to act once the State releases a timeline.
As a reminder, we have asked that all players complete the Pre-Season Registration by June 1st using the link on our website in order to be considered when we offer Player Agreements on June 11th per AAHA guidelines. The Registration fee will be credited toward your Season fees if you are selected for a team. If you previously registered your player(s) for 2020 Tryouts we have converted that Tryout registration and fee to a Pre-Season Registration and you do not need to register again.
MHC 2020-2021 Player Agreements will be based on appropriate age level only (i.e. 14U, 12U, etc) and not specific teams.
Please note that AAHA requires that Player Agreements issued prior to August 3rd, 2020 include a COVID-19 Financial Hardship Refund Policy, which may be exercised by the participant/family through July 31, 2020. A hardship under this policy must be related to the COVID-19 pandemic, where a family’s financial condition changed after signing a Player Agreement and on or prior to July 31, 2020. A participant/family exercising this option will not be permitted to roster with another team for the 2020-2021 season.
