RE: Indefinite Postponement of Youth and Girls Tryouts

Please be advised, in light of the continued impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the extension of nationwide social distancing guidelines through April 30th, and other standing mandates issued by the States of Delaware, New Jersey and Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the Atlantic Amateur Hockey Association (AAHA) has indefinitely postponed all tryouts and/or related contracting for the 2020-21 regular season teams, for all youth and girls age levels and roster
classifications.

Pursuant to USA Hockey and AAHA Rules, should any activity occur that can be construed as a violation or deemed to be an effort to contravene the indefinite postponement of the 2020-21 season tryouts and/ or related contracting, the violating club or association shall be subject disciplinary actions that include, but not limited to; ineligibility for post-season District and National Tournament competition, or suspension from all AAHA sanctioned activities.

As circumstances evolve, we will post the latest information on our website at http://www.atlantic-district.org. Please direct additional questions through your current organization.

We are all looking forward to normalcy and return to a routine that includes hockey as well as other activities that we enjoy. I hope you remain optimistic, patient and most of all, healthy. We are all in this together.

Tuesday March 17th, 2020 - AAHA Update re: Tryouts & Contracts

USA Hockey's Atlantic District (AAHA) has provided the following update. 8U,10U,12U Tryouts postponed at least to April 7th. No contracts may be offered to players prior to tryouts.

UPDATE: AAHA TRYOUTS March, 2020

TO: Atlantic Amateur Hockey Association (AAHA) / USA Hockey Participants

As most should know, the AAHA has postponed all tryouts for the Youth and Girls levels at 12U, 10U and 8U, for both Tier I, Tier II and Independent registration levels, and it was our intent to provide an updated schedule by today. Because of recent decisions issued by State Government officials in Delaware, New Jersey and Pennsylvania, we are refraining from issuing new dates at this point in time, however we anticipate tryouts would resume no earlier than April 7th, the date used for the 14U levels and older.

AAHA Rules and Regulations prohibit AAHA Associations from offering a "commitment contract for the following season prior to the AAHA approved tryout dates”. The AAHA provides for significant penalties to those organizations that offer contracts or requires the payment of money from a player or player’s family prior to the approved tryout dates. If you are offered a contract for participation with an AAHA Organization for the purposes of a participation in the 2020-21 regular USA Hockey season, please advise this office immediately.

We have every expectation that our Organizations will abide by our rules and decision, as required under Affiliate Guidelines. We have discussed these important matters with USA Hockey leadership who recognize and support our authority to make these determinations.

This has been an interesting period of time to say the least. The Affiliate leadership is working diligently to consider other member concerns. Should you have any questions, please contact your Club leadership first, then if you still have questions, please contact us at info@aahahockey.org

Stay Healthy!

Sunday March 15th, 2020 - Urgent Notice Squirt & Peewee Playoffs Exposure

MHC Squirt 3 and Peewee AA families

The AAHA District and the NJYHL have just provided us the following notice:

The Atlantic Amateur Hockey Association and the New Jersey Youth Hockey League learned today that a parent of a player in attendance at the NJYHL Squirt (10U) and Pee Wee (12U) playoffs has tested positive for COVID-19. The event took place March 6th - 8th, 2020 at Hollydell Arena, Hollydell, NJ. The entire family has been self-quarantined. The family’s identity will not be released to the public due to health privacy laws.

To our knowledge, neither the parent or the player were symptomatic during the event. The Centers for Disease Control recommend calling your healthcare provider if you think you have been exposed to COVID-19 AND develop a fever and symptoms, such as a cough or difficulty breathing. For more information, please review the posted information on the CDC website. The best way to avoid exposure is to practice social distancing and good hygiene, including frequent hand washing.

As always, the health and well-being of our hockey community is our highest priority.  Please stay safe in the coming weeks as we all work together to limit the spread of this virus.

Thanks,
AAHA Executve Committee
NJYHL Executive Board

Please take all recommended precautions and if you or a family member develop symptoms please contact your healthcare provider as soon as possible. Stay safe, stay well.

Saturday March 14th, 2020 - 8U,10U,12U Tryouts Postponed

Montclair Hockey Club families and prospective families,

USA Hockey's Atlantic District (AAHA) has advised us that due to COVID-19 concerns and restrictions all March Youth Hockey tryouts are to be postponed. This includes all Youth & Girls tryouts for age groups 8U, 10U, and 12U. The AAHA will provide new tryout date guidelines early next week.

The AAHA continues to follow the developments and closures issued by state and local officials and will provide further guidance regarding April tryouts (Youth & Girls 14U, 16U, 18U, 19U) as deemed appropriate.

Again, please be patient and please do not contact the AAHA or various leagues (NJYHL, EJEPL, MAWHA) directly. The AAHA will be delivering all information through the member organizations such as the Montclair Hockey Club. We will communicate further guidance as soon as possible.

In the meantime please continue to use your own best judgement regarding your family's safety and follow recommendations provided by federal and state health officials to keep your family healthy.
