The Montclair Hockey Club’s Girls 14U Blue team, after winning the Atlantic District championship, traveled to Burlington, Vermont to participate in USA Hockey’s National Championship Tournament.  The girls were victorious in their first game, a 3-2 shootout victory over the Vermont team, the St Alban’s Saints.  Coco Klisivitch and Carlie Van Tassel scored for the Blues in regulation. After a scoreless overtime period, Joyce Sun and Sumire Kierkosz-Ueno scored shootout goals and Sally Solotaroff-Webber saved four out of the five St. Alban’s shots to gain the victory.  In the second and third games, the Blues dropped hard fought games to Casco Bay (Maine) and Anchorage Alaska.  As a result, the Blues girls fell a point short of qualifying for the quarterfinals.  The Blues were, however, the only Atlantic District girls team to win a game at Nationals out of the six teams that qualified. It was an amazing experience that the Blues girls teams will try to make an annual event.
